Packaging declaration

If you sell packaged goods, sooner or later a form asks how many kilograms of glass, plastic, and cardboard you put on the market this year. France’s producer-responsibility scheme (Citeo and the other eco-organismes) works exactly this way, and similar reporting exists elsewhere. The declaration view does the counting for you.

Set up your items

The rollup only counts what it can weigh. On each packaging item, fill the Declaration fields:

• Material: Glass, Paper & cardboard, Plastic, Steel, Aluminium, Wood, or Other.
• Weight (g) per unit: a 210 g jar, a 12.5 g lid, a 1.2 g label.
• Optionally, whether it is Recyclable and Carries the Triman mark.

From then on, every unit you ship adds its weight to the year’s tonnage.

Read the declaration

Open Packaging and click Placed on market. The Packaging placed on market page shows, for the selected Year, the kilograms you shipped per material, with a Total row. Units count when a production run packages them; if your organization uses finished-product checks, only released units count (the ones whose check passed).

Export CSV downloads the same table for your filing.

Why it exists

The goal is honest bookkeeping without a January archaeology session. You already record which format each run was packed in and what each format’s packaging set contains (sellable products covers the sets). The declaration multiplies it out: units shipped, times items per unit, times weight per item, summed by material for the year.

When a year looks empty

Two usual causes. Either no runs were completed and released in that year (Completing a run), or packaging items are missing their material and weight. An item without those fields ships silently uncounted, so fill them for every jar, lid, and label that leaves the building.
